Recently I started making a Flash game designed to have players able to interact with each other in trade, competition and collaboration.
Having some knowledge of PHP and mySQL, I decided that using these would be the easiest
option. Through a lot of internet research and experimentation, I got a remarkably simple solution working.
This tutorial should teach you to be able to store and load variables in a mySQL database from Flash, through PHP. Unfortunately, for the later stages you will have to have your own mySQL and PHP server to run the scripts on. A basic knowledge of mySQL and PHP is required.
Examples can be downloaded from http://gnomelogic.com/flash&mysql/examples.zip, or at the end of the tutorial.UpdatesV2: PHP and MySQL have been migrated to a new host, and code has been adjusted to suit.
Errors with dynamic content should no longer occur.
